PRACTICE OF YOGA IN PATIENTS WITH DIABETIC PERIPHERAL NEUROPATHY ATTENDING A TERTIARY CARE HOSPITAL IN NORTHERN INDIA: IMPLICATIONS DURING CORONAVIRUS DISEASE-19 PANDEMIC

Objective: The objective of this study was to determine the prevalence yoga practice in patients with Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy (DPN) and compare its acceptance among chronic diseases other than DPN practicing non-yoga physical activities.
 Methods: A pre-formed structured questionnaire-based cross-sectional conducted a total 98 out 240 screened recruited during face interview, diagnosis DPN. Data on socio-demographics, age, duration disease, glycemic controls (hemoglobin A1C [HBA1C] levels), pain scores, numbness, activity comorbid illnesses were collected.
 Results: 248 pre-diagnosed diabetic screened; subjects (M: F=66:32) enrolled mean age found be 55.28 years. As diagnosed clinically electrophysiologically, peripheral neuropathy 39.51%. score 3.27. Risk factors for included male sex, advanced higher body mass index (%), HbA1C (n=67.34%), having sedentary lifestyle (38.77%), overweight (43, 44.89%), obesity (21, 21.42%) <40% belong diabetes group more 10 16, male: 9 female: 5 (22.85%) 70 using as control (non-peripheral group), only 8 (25%) 25 doing yoga. overall proportions compared Chi-square, results non-significant p=−0.49; Chi-square statistic −0.47.
